Our Online School
Whether a young person is failing to access their own school or waiting for a placement at a different school or college, TCES can step in to offer immediate support for academic and personal development. Our online school offers education and therapeutic support to those who are currently not attending school, due to their SEN or SEMH and anxiety needs. TCES’ success lies in that we offer personalised, targeted online programmes, grounded in the evidence-based principles of therapeutic education to rebuild the relationship between students, schools, parents/carers and local authorities.
Who we support:
There are many reasons why students are funded by Local Authorities, Schools and or other funding streams (for example personal or private budget), from across England would want a full-time placement at TCES National Online School, and these include, but not limited to;
- Children or young people, who are waiting for a school or college placement
- Children, young people and young adults, who are unable to access a local school, due to significant anxiety or school/college phobias (often called Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA)
- Children, young people and young adults, who are unable to access a local school/college, due to natural anxiety, exacerbated by the Pandemic
- Exceptional neurodiverse students, who are not receiving adequate support from schools/colleges due to diagnosed or undiagnosed autistic spectrum condition (ASC), often co-occurring with Social Emotional Mental Health needs or other associated conditions
- Children or young people, who have been excluded from or moved out of their school
- Children who have self-excluded themselves from school due to their needs not being understood or met
- Children who cannot attend local schools due to gang affiliation, county lines or criminal or sexual exploitation

A full Curriculum
TCES provides a personalised curriculum adapted to meet the needs and abilities of each student, which, so far as is reasonably practicable gives students experience in linguistic, mathematical, scientific, technological, human and social, physical, and aesthetic and creative education.
In addition to core subjects in Maths, English and Science we teach Humanities, PSHE, RSE and our LIFE programme (Leadership Skills, Independence Skills, Future Options and Empowerment). There are opportunities to develop relationships with peers through class-based learning, assemblies and informal extracurricular activities.

Timetable
All students have the opportunity to engage with a full school timetable. However, some students may need to build their timetable over time moving from 1:1 targeted sessions to a higher level of small group learning:

Our offer
We offer the core subjects of English, Maths and Science plus additional subjects, and we can support students to take GCSE and A-Level qualifications, including providing invigilators online in the family home, where needed, to enable them to sit the exams. Our experienced and qualified therapy team offers Speech and Language, Occupational Therapy and psychodynamic therapies (e.g. Art and Drama Therapy) based on our assessments of each child’s need.

Assessment
Our therapy team will be involved in early assessment, enabling the team to identify and begin to heal the barriers that have caused disengagement from education. These may be academic, neurodevelopmental or from an underlying trauma or breakdown of trust. They will continue to have clinical oversight and support the teaching team to help learners get the most from their programme and prepare for the next steps when they are ready to re-join a school or college.
