Frequently Asked Questions
What makes TCES Home Learning different to other outreach services?
We are not a tutoring service. We seek to provide a full-curriculum experience through home learning, and help pupils to benefit from the same level of academic, therapeutic and wellbeing support as they would in school. We also provide social interaction opportunities online and through the TCES community.
Which therapeutic strategies can you provide?
Relationship mentoring, psychotherapy, creative arts therapies (including drama, music, and art therapy), play therapy, speech and language therapy, and occupational therapy can all be provided, depending on the level of support requested.
Can you provide IT support?
Yes. We can provide technical support for distance learners, where necessary, as well as IT equipment if this facilitates learning where this would otherwise not be possible.
How do we support parents and carers?
Regular group sessions for parents/carers, as well as one-to-one support where required; regular planning, engagement, and behaviour reports can be provided, and a dedicated support team are available throughout the week.
Do you offer learning throughout the UK?
We are able to offer virtual packages of support for children and young people across the UK. Face-to-face learning can also be provided in London and the surrounding home counties.
Do you offer opportunities for pupils to socialise?
We hold small group classes online where appropriate so that pupils can interact with their peers and foster social skills.
How many hours per week are your Home Learning packages?
These range from 10 to 25 hours per week. Our ultimate goal is to integrate children and young people into full-time group learning, so full-time hours are one of our primary objectives for learners.
How is progress and achievement reported to parents and how often?
Every 6 weeks we review our pathway plan, which ensures that progress is being made and that there is no stagnation. We are also able to provide weekly progress reports for parents and local authorities.
